Everything But The Squeal !

Goldsboro Fun

It is hard to believe that just one week ago we left Goldsboro, NC with four inches of snow on the ground, and today we are basking in 80* in Florida!! Oh, I am so sorry! I didn’t mean to let that “cat out of the bag”! You ALL need to promise us that you will still be our friend when we come home, despite the fact that we have been “basking in the Florida sun”! In our effort to keep you up on the “latest” of important doings, we will share our visit to Goldsboro with you now. Few of you have ever seen the “sights” we are showing you now!
We had a wonderful time with Chris, Gina, Tucker, and precious little Peyton. As you can see, she makes a great little Eskimo child in her snow suit! As we were treated to the “first and only” snow we have seen this year, the kids and parents had a blast playing in it. They rarely have snow, so this was a real treat. Mimi & Hoppi enjoyed it from inside the house, because they had left all of their snow clothes behind!!!!
“Feast your eyes” on the largest array of Pork products displayed and “for sale” this side of the Pacific Ocean! Chris drove us to the NAHUNTA Pork Products retail show room not far from his home. You haven’t lived until you look down into a display case, and see “porky pig” staring up at you with a very empty expression on his face! Every single part of the pig is packaged and “For Sale” in this shop. Watch out, Jack Smith!!!!! I NOW know where to purchase “pig tails”!!!! Watch your mailbox very carefully!!!!! It was very interesting, but, I would love to meet some of those folks who are buying some of these pig parts!! Maybe, I really don’t want to meet them, after all!!!
INTERESTING FACT!!! One can purchase liquor products at the local Walgreens, and other drug stores. Now, that is worth a trip to Florida for some folks!
INTERESTING FACT!!! I met a lady who owns a Consignment shop I visited yesterday, who is from \WATERTOWN, SD. What a small world! I loved chatting with her because that is very near where my favorite Aunt Lucille, and Cousin Stuart and Lucy live.
INTERESTING FACT!!! No “alligator sightings” yet!!!
( You can see that the “extreme heat” has done something to my brain because I thought the above were “INTERESTING’)

Better get going. I need to “listen to the birds chirping outside. It is great hearing from ALL of you. Also, I will pray for “warm weather” for all of you up there in the cold!!! MORE TO FOLLOW.

Korners Folly

GREETINGS FROM FLORIDA

We finally made it from the “frigid North” to the warm, sunny South! But, we had to pay our ‘dues’ on our way down, as we got “snowed in” at Goldsboro, NC. and left for Florida on Wednesday. We had a wonderful time with Tripp, Ginny, Lizzie, and Ella in Clemmons, NC. and Chris, Gina, Tucker, and Peyton over the weekend.

We will begin our “adventures” with our weekend with Tripp and his family in Clemmons. The following installment will include our visit with Chris and family in Goldsboro.

While in Clemmons, we visited the most “unusual, strangest, bizarre, and interesting” house in the world! Located in Kernersville, this house has twenty-two rooms on seven levels, and ceiling heights ranging from six feet to twenty-five feet. It was designed by Jule Gilmer Korner, an Interior Designer, and Decorator to showcase his work. He became the famous painter of Bull Durham Bulls across the South. It held the first Private Little Theater in America, and is still used for special presentations. You will notice pictures of the House, Family picture around the sign (we were FREEZING COLD), the Privy, “conversation bench”, ‘kissing curtain” behind the fireplace. What a fun place!!!! I wouldn’t want to be there on a dark, stormy Halloween night!!!!

It was great fun being with our Clemmons family. We got lots of Lizzie and Ella hugs, and enjoyed relaxing with our family in the evening. After church and lunch at the Cracker Barrel on Sunday morning, we drove over to Goldsboro to be with Chris and his family, and to watch the Eagles!!!! We even wore our Eagles shirts, and they had the nerve to lose!!!!

Out Of The Cold Into The Warm

We are all packed up and ready to go! When we hook up our trailer in Milton, DE. it will be a "hot 2 degrees" wind chill. Friends tell us that is because we have to pay our "dues" for leaving this cold, and heading south! Some kind of friends, they are!! Our first stop will be Goldsboro, NC to see Chris and family, then on to Tripp and family on Satrurday. We will return to Goldsboro on Sunday to watch the Eagles beat the Cardinals! On Tuesday, we hit the road to Florida. We will catch up to you as we head south.
